Emily Rutherford is the Principal Lawyer practicing in the area of Migration Law, specialising in Refugee and Family Migration.

She previously provided general advice including civil, criminal and family law prior to specialising in migration.

Emily is a well-regarded practitioner of migration law, and has a diverse mixture of applications to courts and tribunals for reviews of visa decisions. Emily can also provide advice on most visa types. In particular, Emily has extensive experience in the area of visa cancellations, domestic violence in partner visas, and protection visas. Emily takes pride in getting outcomes for clients in complex migration situations with an understanding and compassionate manner.

In addition to migration work, Emily also has experience in discrimination claims, defamation, and other civil litigation in a variety of courts and tribunals.

Emily has worked overseas with an international non-government organisation and has a strong history of volunteer work with various boards and committees. She is currently Deputy Chairperson of the Refugee Advocacy Service of South Australia Inc.
